Summer and Cross Country, 2013

-- On June 23, 2013, Alum Marc Pelerin, '02, now coaching at Haddon Heights High School, competed in the Pine Beach 5K up around Toms River, NJ. Marc finished 4th overall and 1st in his age group -- geeze, Marc's 29! -- in 17:16 (5:37 pace). Details at: Pine Beach Results.

-- On July 4, 2013, a small group of Alums, including some of our recent grads, returned for what has become something of an alumni run in Marlton, the Marlton Mayor's Cup 5K! Once again, Shawn Wilson '13, beat the rest of the Alums while finishing 3rd (16:21, 1st in 16:46 last year) in the race. Following Shawn was Kyle Miller '09 (5th in 17:45, dropped from 18:41 last year!); Mike Candy '05 (17th in 19:14); Steve McCarroll '08 (21st in 19:38); Bill Hornung '12 (25th in 19:49); Matt Decker '13 (40th in 20:47); Brandon Ilagan '13 (51st in 21:28); Jeremy Morgan '12 (55th in 21:35); Dan Mintzer '13 (70th in 22:16); and Freddy Rasmussen '13 (95th in 22:49). -- On August 6, 2013, The Princeton Review announced their annual list of "Best Party Schools" and, among the private universities, Syracuse took the top ranking! However, we are assured that Alums Darren McCluskey '11 and Shawn Wilson '13 knew nothing of this and selected the school largely because of its solid academic reputation! GO DARREN! . . . GO SHAWN!

In mid-August, several Alums served as counselors at the RunningWorks Cross Country Camp in Canadensis, PA. They included high school coaches Marc Pelerin '02, Kevin Cuneo '04, and Ted Schickling '08, and college athletes Mike Lowinger '12, and Greg Malloy '11.

-- On August 28, 2013, two Alums, Joe Halin, '00, of the Haddonfield Running Company, and Marc Pelerin, '02, teacher and coach at Haddon Heights High School, raced in the 22nd Annual Run for Tony 5K in Haddon Township, NJ. Joe took 5th overall and 1st in his age group (30-39), clocking 16:44 (5:24 pace); while Marc finished 9th overall and 6th in his age group (20-29), clocking 17:44 (5:43 pace). -- On August 28, 2013, Alum Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, opened his season at the Stony Brook University XC Invitational in Stony Brook, NY. Josh finished the 6K race in 38th overall, 13th on his team, clocking 22:01.79 (5:54.5 pace). Details at: Stony Brook.

-- On August 29, 2013, caught this mugshot of Alum Shawn Wilson, '13 of Syracuse University on the university's Cross Country page. Looks pretty smug for a mere Freshman! Their CC page is at: Syracuse CC.

-- On September 7, 2013, Alum Shawn Wilson, '13, of Syracuse University, began his college racing career in the relatively small Harry Lang Invitational at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. Although Shawn ran "unattached" and, get this, wore an old Cherokee uniform, he finished 6th overall and 6th on his team, covering the 6400m course in 20:35.10 (5:11 pace)! Syracuse swept the meet -- the first eleven finished within ten seconds of each other -- and took 1st and 2nd with their "A" and "B" squads. Details at: Syracuse Athletics. -- On September 7, 2013, Alums Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, and Aidan Lynch, '12, of Felician College, opened their seasons at the Fordham University XC Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City. Competing in the Division I race, Steve finished 52nd overall and 6th on his team in 29:20.34 (5:54.1 pace), and Aidan, competing in the Div III race, finished 59th overall and 5th on his team in 32:19.58 (6:28.0 pace). -- On September 7, 2013, Alum Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, competed in the St. John's - Hofstra XC Fall Festival at Oakdale, NY. John raced the 5K course in 16:14.90 (5:14 pace), finishing 25th overall and 5th on his team. Details at: Go Hofstra.

-- On September 14, 2013, Alum Aiden Lynch, '12, of Felician College, took the short trip over to Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ to compete in NJIT's Highlander Challenge. Aiden's team took 1st in the 8K race for D2/D3 teams, with Aiden taking 6th on the team and 20th overall in a leisurely 30:56.14 (6:13 pace). Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On September 14, 2013, Alum Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, traveled to the LIU at Post XC Invitational where he competed in the 8K race. Josh finished 73rd overall, 8th on his team, in 28:48.94 (5:48 pace). Details at: Just in Time.

-- On September 14, 2013, Alum Bill Hornung, '12, of Susquehanna University, competed in the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Alumni Challenge at the college in Elizabethtown, PA. In a 6K race, Bill finished 46th in 22:29.53 (6:02 pace). Details at: GO SU pdf.

-- On September 21, 2013, Alum Greg Malloy, '11, of Boston College, competed in the grandly-named Iona College Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City. Greg raced the 8K, finishing 165th in 28:29.39 (5:43 pace). Details at: Iona Gaels.

-- On October 5, 2013, Alum Aiden Lynch, '12, of Felician College, returned to Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ for the 12th Annual Technology XC Challenge hosted by the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Competing on the 8K course against twenty other DIV I & II schools, Aiden finished 4th on his team and 41st overall in 28:48.82 (5:48 pace) -- a nice 2 minute drop over his race last month on the same course! -- On October 11, 2013, Alums Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, and Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, traveled to VanCortlandt Park in the Bronx for the 2013 NYC Metropolitan Conference XC Championships. Steve finished in 60th place in the 8K race, clocking a 28:26 (5:43 pace), while Josh finished in 101st place, clocking a 31:11.25 (6:17 pace). -- On October 12, 2013, Alum Bill Hornung, '12, of Susquehanna University, made the two-hour trip to Center Valley, Pa for the DeSales XC Invitational, a 5 mile race on campus. Bill finished 123rd in a field of 276 competitors, clocking 29:44.66 (pace 5:57). His team took 1st over 19 other teams. DeSales pdf.

-- On October 12, 2013, Alum Aiden Lynch, '12, of Felician College, competed in the 6th Annual Jack St. Clair Memorial XC Championship at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. It was "The Saint" who designed the classic course at Belmount that included Flagpole, Parachute, Suicide, Surekill and Nursery Hills but this race was run on the newer 8K Liberty Bell course as Surekill was washed out several years ago -- probably in blood. Anyway, competition comes from small colleges and club teams. Aiden finished 28th overall in 30:16 (6:06 pace), 4th on his team; his team finished 3rd out of 13. Details at: Fast Cats Sports.

-- On October 12, 2013, Alum Greg Malloy '11, of Boston College, took a short ride over to Franklin Park there in Boston for the NEICAAA New England Championship. Greg finished the 8K race in 25:55.07 (5:12 pace), 1st on the team that BC entered in the race. That team took 24th/41 in the race. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On October 19, 2013, Alum Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, made the short trip down Route 1 to compete in the Princeton XC Invitational, an 8K event at West Windsor Fields in Princeton, NJ. Steve finished in 174th place while clocking 26:43 (5:23 pace). Details at: Go Princeton Tigers.

-- On October 25, 2013, Alum Shawn Wilson, '13, of Syracuse University, competed as an "unattached athlete" in the rather small 27th Annual John Reif Memorial Run, a 5-mile race on Cornell University's Moakley Course at Ithaca, NY. The morning was a tad cold -- get used to it, kid -- but Shawn finished 3rd in the race, clocking 24:58.20 (4:59 pace). Details at: Track and Field Results.

-- On October 27, 2013, Alum Aiden Lynch, '12, of Felician College, returned to Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau for the CAC Cross Country Championships. Aiden raced the 8K Liberty course, finishing 29th overall in 29.44.10 (5:58 pace). The team from Wilmington University swept the meet, which is both impressive and depressing if you're a Felician fan! Aiden's team finished 3rd in the 12-team race. Details at: Felician Athletics.

-- On November 1, 2013, Alum Greg Malloy '11, of Boston College, traveled to the ACC Cross Country Championships at Wake Forest University's Beeson Park in Kernersville, NC. Greg finished the 8K race in 105th overall, 84th in team counting, while clocking 26:47.66 (5:23 pace). Details at: Wake Forest Sports.

-- On November 1, 2013, Alum Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, took the short trip over to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx where his team hosted the MAAC XC Championships. Josh ran the 8K race in 30:08.85 (6:04 pace), finishing 134/153. His team finished 9th in the 11-team competition. -- On November 23, 2013, Alums Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, and Greg Malloy '11, of Boston College, returned to the 5 Mile course at Van Cortlandt Park in NY City for the IC4A/ECAC Cross Country Championships. Competing in the University Division, Steve finished 124th in overall scoring (8th on his team) clocking 28:24.2 (5:41 pace); and Greg, competing in the Championship Division, finished 58th in team scoring (7th on his team) clocking 26:58.8 (5:24 pace). Winter/Indoor Track and Field, 2014

-- On December 7, 2013, Winter or Indoor Track official began and Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University got off to a decent start at the 5th Annual MAC Classic there on Monmouth's campus in West Long Branch. Ed competed in the High Jump taking 2nd at 1.94m (6' 4.4"). Ed passed at the opening height of 1.79m (5' 10") and then cleared 1.84m (6' 0"), 1.89m (6' 2.4") , and 1.94m (6' 4.4") on his first attempts. He failed to clear 1.99m. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On December 7, 2013, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University opened his indoor season at the Greg Page Cornell Relays on the Cornell campus in Ithaca, NY. Darren raced the 60m Dash in 7.30 -- which may be a PR in one of Darren's less-favored events -- placing 3rd in his heat and 23rd/66 overall. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On December 7, 2013, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College started his winter season at the Fast Times Before Finals Invitational at the Lehigh University's Rouch Center. John competed in both the 100m (25th in 7.53) and the 200m (25th in 24.75). Details at: Moravian Sports.

-- Alum Josh Perez, '10 of Manhattan College, must have a cousin in the publicity department of the college because they have a gallery of pictures taken of Josh while competing. Here are a few but the rest can be viewed with a smile at Perez Gallery.

-- On January 10, 2014, Alum Greg Malloy '11, of Boston College, open his Indoor Season in the boondocks of New Hampshire at the Dartmouth Relays. Greg raced the 3K in 9:17.06, finishing 35th in a field of 57. Details at: Lancer Timing.

-- On January 10, 2014, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, went to the big city for the New York City Gotham Cup at the Armory. Darren took 1st in his heat (11th/47) in his first competition this year in the 60m High Hurdles: 8:51. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On January 10, 2014, Alum Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, opened his Indoor Season at home in the four-team Rutgers Invitational. Steve competed in the 1K, finishing 3rd in 2:34.57, and a "B" team of the 4 X 400m Relay which finished 3rd in 3:28.11. Details at: Scarlet Knights.

-- On January 11, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University stayed at home for the small three-team 4th Annual Blue-White Invitational. Ed competed in the High Jump where he took 4th at 1.94m (6' 4"). Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On January 17, 2014, Alum Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, traveled to the Armory in New York City for the University of Albany's 12th Annual Great Dane Classic. Steve competed in the 800m Run, finishing 20th/31 overall in 1:59.95. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On January 18, 2014, Alum Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, took to the Armory track in the 800m Run at the Saturday Night Shootout and took 23rd/49 overall in 2:02.02. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On January 18, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, competed in the High Jump at Lehigh University's Angry Birds Invitational. Ed took 6th/14 overall in the event, clearing 1.94m (6' 4.25"). Ed passed until the bar reached 1.89m (6' 2.25") and then missed on his first two attempts. At 1.94m, he missed on the first attempt and cleared on the second. He failed to clear the bar at 1.99m (6' 6.25"). Two other Monmouth jumpers cleared 1.94m but none cleared 1.99m. -- On January 24, 2014, Alum Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, returned to the Armory Track for the NYU Team Challenge. Josh competed in the 800m Run, clocking 2:04.83 and finishing 37th/44 overall. Details at: Go Jaspers.

-- On January 24, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, competed in the Collegeville Indoor Classic at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. John raced the 200m, clocking 24.35 and taking 19th/50 overall. Details at: Moravian Sports.

-- On January 25, 2014, Alums Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, and Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, traveled to the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University. In the High Jump, Ed "No Heighted" when he passed to 1.90m (6' 2-75") but then failed to clear! Steve competed in the 1K, finishing 3rd in his heat and 29th/81 overall in 2:31.67. -- On January 25, 2014, Alums Darren McCluskey, '11 and Shawn Wilson, '13, of Syracuse University, traveled downstate to Ithaca for the Cornell Upstate Invitational. Darren competed in his signature event, the 60m Highs, and finished 2nd in his Preliminary heat, qualifying 6th overall in 8:45, and then he finished 5th in the Finals in 8:35. Shawn, competing for the first time as an official Syracuse runner -- no more "redshirting," Momma! -- raced his first college Mile in 4:21.59, finishing 10th/31 overall. -- On January 31, 2014, Alums Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College and Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, returned to the NY City Armory for the Metropolitan Indoor Track and Field Championships. Josh raced the 800m in a casual 2:05.41 leaving him last in the field of 23. Steve competed in three events: (1) the 1K Run where he finished 4th/14 overall in 2:30.93; (2) the 4K Distance Medley Relay where his team finished 5th/10 overall (with Steve leading off) in 10:39.34; and (3) the 4 X 800m Relay where his team finished 1st/6 overall (again with Steve leading off) in 7:51.84. -- On January 31, 2014, Alums Darren McCluskey, '11 and Shawn Wilson, '13 of Syracuse University, competed in the Penn State National Invitational on their fantastic Ashenfelter Indoor Track! Darren raced the 60m Highs in 8:34, a small improvement on his PR for this year but a tad worse than previous years; and Shawn raced his first college 5K, finishing 12th overall in 14:55.32 (4:48 pace)! -- On February 1, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, returned to the NY City Armory for Columbia University's Lions Invitational where he competed in the High Jump. Ed cleared 1.88m (6' 2") on his second attempt but then failed to clear 1.93m (6' 4"). Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On February 1, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, took the short trip across town to Lehigh University for their 22nd Annual Covert Classic. John competed in the 60m Dash where he finished 15th/26 overall in 7.51. Details at: Moravian Sports.

-- On February 7, 2014, Alum Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, traveled to Yale University's Coxe Cage in New Haven for the Giegengack Invitational. Josh raced the 500m Dash in 1:10.20 finishing 1st in his heat -- that's the good news! -- but only 16th out of 19 guys in the event. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On February 8, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, stayed at home for the Monmouth University Winter Collegiate Open. Ed participated in the High Jump where he cleared 1.89m (6' 2.4") and took 6th in the competition. Ed passed at 1.84m (6' 0.4"), cleared 1.89m (6' 2.4") on his 1st attempt, and then failed to clear 1.94m (6' 4"). Monmouth had three jumpers who beat Ed so the pressure's on! -- On February 8, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, took the 100 mile or so trip to Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA for the Crusader Classic. John "multi-tasked" by competing in three events: in the 60m Dash, John clocked 7.50 and took 4th in his heat and 25th/59 overall; in the 200m Dash, he broke the tape in 24.13 taking 1st in his heat and 16th/60 overall; and, finally, in the 4 X 200m Relay, John lead-off and his team clocked 1:39.19 taking 3rd in his heat and 5th/13 teams overall. -- On February 8, 2014, Alum Shawn Wilson, '13, of Syracuse University, traveled to Boston for BU's Valentine Invitational. Shawn raced the 3K where he finished 3rd in his heat, 55th/114 overall, while clocking 8:28.99 (4:33 pace). Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On February 8, 2014, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, bussed to the New York City Armory for the Armory Collegiate Invitational where he competed in the 60m Highs. Darren clocked 8.28 and finished 6th in his heat, 34th/40 overall in the Championship Division. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On February 14, 2014, Alum Shawn Wilson, '13, of Syracuse University, traveled to the amazing SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio for the SPIRE DIV I Indoor Track and Field Invitational. Shawn led-off in the 4,000m DMR and his team finished 1st in a small field with a time of 10:05.52. Later, Shawn competed in the Mile Run, finishing 3rd in his heat and 21st/33 overall in 4:13.15. Three other Syracuse Freshmen raced the mile with Shawn finishing 2nd among the four. Details at: Direct Athletics. We usually look for pictures of our Alums but the SPIRE Institute is one of those places where, when you enter, you end up saying, "Holy Crap!"

-- On February 14, 2014, Alums Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, and Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, returned to the NY City Armory for the Lafayett/Rider Winter Games. Steve competed in the Invitational 1K and finished 4th in 2:31.08. Ed competed in the High Jump but was way off his game clearing only 1.89m (6' 2.4") and finishing 13th, which included being behind four other Monmouth jumpers. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On February 21, 2014, Alums Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, and Josh Perez, '10, of Manhattan College, competed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships at the Armory in New York City. Ed improved a bit on his recent performances, clearing 1.99m (6' 6.3"), and finishing 7th overall. He still has some competition from his own ranks as he finished 4th among Monmouth jumpers! Josh also improved on his recent performances in the 800m, taking 1st in his heat (16/22 overall) while crossing the line in 1:58.61. A passing note: Manhattan entered the event hoping to win its 18th consecutive conference championship but ended up losing to conference newcomer Monmouth. Ouch! Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On February 22, 2014, Alums Darren McCluskey, '11 and Shawn Wilson, '13, of Syracuse University, traveled the 50 miles or so to the Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational at Cornell University. Darren competed in the 60 Highs, finishing 2nd in his heat, 11th/34 overall in 8.49. Shawn competed in the 3K where he finished 4th in his heat and 4th/37 overall in 8:30.27 (4:32 pace). Apparently Shawn ran with two other Syracuse Freshmen as they finished 2 - 4 within 1/100th of a second of each other! Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On February 26, 2014, Alums Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, stayed at home for Monmouth Moonlight at the MAC, a last-chance meet for those hoping to qualify for up-coming championship meets. Ed matched his last performance clearing 1.99m (6" 6.3"), finishing in a tie for 3rd with two other Monmouth jumpers. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On February 28, 2014, Alum Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, returned to the Armory for the American Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. Steve led-off in the 4,000m DMR that finished 5th/6 overall in 10.12.69. The team finished 6th in the 8-team conference. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On March 1, 2014, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, traveled to Clemson University for the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Darren competed in the 60HH where he finished 5th in his heat and 16th/19 overall in 8.30, slightly off his indoor PR of 8.28. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On March 8, 2014, Alum Shawn Wilson, '13, of Syracuse University, traveled to the IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championships at Boston University. Shawn competed in the 3K crossing the line in a PR 8:21.71 (4:29 pace). Overall there was a lot of competition as Shawn finished 6th in his heat and 32nd/55 runners. Details at: Direct Athletics.

Spring Track, 2014

-- On March 22, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, traveled to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the Wake Forest Open, one of the earliest of the Spring meets and almost far enough south to be considered a form of Spring Break! Anyway, Ed competed in the High Jump Invitational where he cleared 1.93m (6' 4") and took 12th. Ok, so maybe it was Spring Break! Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On March 28, 2014, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, traveled far south to Atlanta, Georgia for Georgia Tech's Yellow Jacket Invitational. Darren competed in his signature 110m High Hurdles where he finished 5th in a small field while clocking 15:23. There were at least five Syracuse hurdlers (and one Alum running unattached) and Darren finished 3rd in that group. Darren also competed in the 4 X 100m Relay where his team finished 3rd in 41.38. -- On March 28, 2014, Alum Ross Staudt, '12, of Widener University, stayed at home on a very rainy Spring day for the Danny Curran Invitational. Ross opened his 2014 track campaign in the 400m Dash, finishing 20th in a field of 78, clocking 52.79. Details at: Widener Pride.

-- On March 29, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, stayed at home for the 19th Annual Monmouth Season Opener where he competed in the High Jump, taking 1st while clearing 2.05m (6' 8.7"). -- On April 5, 2014, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, took his annual pilgrimage to Gainesville, Florida for the Florida Relays. Darren competed in his usual event, the 110HH, finishing 7th in his heat, 37/50 overall, in 14.52 but in order to "earn his keep" he also competed in the 4 X 100m Relay -- 7th in heat, 22/41 overall, in 40.83 -- and the 4 X 200m Relay -- 1st in heat, 11/28 overall, in 1:24.98. -- On April 5, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, traveled southward to Lynchburg, Virginia for Liberty University's Collegiate Invitational where he competed in the High Jump. Ed cleared 1.89m (6' 2.4") to tie for 5th. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On April 12, 2014, Alums Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, made the short trip to Princeton University for the Princeton Quad Meet, an event in which Vermont, Monmouth, Rutgers and Princeton saw action. Ed competed in the High Jump where he took 5th (of 10 jumpers) clearing 1.96m (6' 5"). Steve competed in two events: the Open 800m where he took 1st in his heat (3rd/11 overall) while clocking 1:54.78; and the 4 X 400m Relay where his team finished 4th/6 overall in 3:24.3. -- On April 12, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, stayed at home for the Coach P Memorial Open and competed in two events: in the 200m Dash, John took 5th in his heat, 36th/76 overall, in 23.71; and in the 400m Dash, he took 6th in his heat, 25th/46th overall, in 52.93. -- On April 12, 2014, Alum Ross Staudt, '12, of Widener University, competed in the Hopkins Loyola Invitational at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Ross took 4th in his heat of the 800m (23rd/71 overall) while clocking 1:59.03. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On April 18, 2014, Alums Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, and John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, competed in the Greyhound Invitational. Ed stayed with the High Jump, taking 3rd behind two teammates, while clearing 1.98m (6' 6"); and John competed in two events: in the 200m Dash, John took 3rd in his heat, 12/39 overall, in 23:38; and in the 400m Dash, he took 7th in his heat, 34th/35th overall, in 54.95. -- On April 18, 2014, Alum Ross Staudt, '12, of Widener University, stayed at home for the Widener Outdoor Invitational where he competed in probably the longest race of his young life: the 1500m Run! -- On April 18, 2014, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, traveled to the University of North Carolina for the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Darren qualified for the finals of the 110HH, placing 3rd in his preliminary heat, 8th/16th overall, at a PR 14:37, and then taking 7th in the Finals at 15:27. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On April 19, 2014, Alum Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, took the short trip to Princeton for the Larry Ellis Invitational. Competing in the College 1500m, Steve finished 11th in his heat, 25th/39th overall, in 4:04.80. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On April 24, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, made his first trip to Franklin Field as a college man for the 120th Annual Penn Relays where he anchored the College Men 4 X 100m Relay that finished 76th/92 in 43.72, and competed in the College Men 4 X 400m Pop Haddleton MAC Relay that finished 7th/12 in 3:27.36. -- On April 24, 2014, Alum Steve Burkholder, '10, of Rutgers University, traveled to Franklin Field in Philadelphia for the Penn Relays where he competed in the College 4 X 800m Relay. His team finished in 7:42.04, 7th in the heat and 17/26 teams. The Penn Relays website shows Steve clocking 1:55.22 in his leg. -- On April 25, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, returned to Franklin Field for the Penn Relays where he competed in the Eastern Division of the High Jump. Ed cleared opening height of 1.96 (6' 5") on his first attempt but failed to clear after that. He finished 9th/15 in the competition. -- On April 25, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, crossed over South Mountain for the Lehigh Games. John raced the 400m taking 2nd in his heat, 18th/29 overall, in 52.53. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On April 25, 2014, Alum Ross Staudt, '12, of Widener University, traveled to Ewing, NJ for the Lions' Invitational at TCNJ. Ross competed in the 400m Dash, finishing 3rd in his heat, 25th/56 overall, in 52.13. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On April 27, 2014, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, traveled south to Ithaca, NY for Cornell University's Big Red Outdoor Invitational where he competed in the 110HH and the 200m Dash. In the Trials of the Highs, Darren took 1st in his heat and 1st/27 overall in 14.83, and then, in the Finals, he took 4th/8 in 14.59. In the 200m Dash, Darren took 3rd in his heat, 6th/33 overall, in a PR 22.56! Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On May 3, 2014, Alum Steve Burkholder, '10 of Rutgers University, took the long trip to the campus of South Florida University in Tampa for the American Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships. Steve competed in the Open 800m Run, finishing 16th/19 in 1:55.83. Details at: Half-mile Timing.

-- On May 3, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, took the short trip over to Rider College in Lawrenceville for the MAAC Track and Field CHampionships. Ed took 3rd/11 in the competition, clearing 1.99m (6' 6.3"). Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On May 3, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, traveled to the fashionable side of Long Island, New York for the Landmark Conference Track and Field Championships at the Merchant Marine Academy. John "multi-tasked" to say the least! In the 200m Dash, John took 3rd in his heat, 9th/25 overall in 23.12. In the 400m Dash, he took 4th in his heat, 7th/16 overall to qualify for the Finals in 52.70, and in the Finals, he took 4th in 52.34! He also participated in two relays. In the 4 X 100m Relay, he anchored his team as they took 3rd of 4 teams in 44.09; and in the 4 X 400m Relay, he led-off as they took 5th of 6 teams in 3:36.71. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On May 3, 2014, Alum Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, returned to Ithaca, NY for the Cornell Outdoor Invitational where he competed in the 110HH. In the Trials, he took 1st in his heat, 3rd/12 overall, in 14.65. Then he returned in the Finals and finished 3rd/7 in 14:54! Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On May 4, 2014, Alum Ross Staudt, '12, of Widener University, stayed at home and had a busy day at the MAC Track and Field Championships! He competed in the 800m Run, taking 3rd in his heat, 8th/25 overall, in 1:56.74 and qualifying for the Finals! In the Finals, he finished 8th in a pretty slow 1:59.69. He also competed in the 4 X 800m Relay (maybe that was scheduled between his Open 800m Trials and Finals?). In that race, his team took 2nd of 8 teams while clocking 7:51.21. -- On May 9, 2014, Alum Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, took the short trip over to Georgian Court University in Lakewood for their Last Chance Meet, a last opportunity to qualify for upcoming championship meets. Ed competed in the High Jump, clearing 1.99m (6' 6.3"), which won't help much. Details at: Direct Athletics

-- On May 12, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, traveled to Swarthmore College for the Swarthmore Final Qualifier and competed in the 200m Dash. John took 2nd in his heat, 18th/30 overall in 23.33. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On May 15, 2014, Alum John Barr, '12, of Moravian College, took the long trip to Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY for the ECAC Division III Track and Field Championships. John anchored the 4 X 100m Relay that finished 4th in their heat, 19th/23 overall, in 44.63. Fifty-seven teams competed and Moravian finished 7th in the competition. Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On May 16 - 18, 2014, Alums Ed Kramer, '10, of Monmouth University, Steve Burkholder, '10 of Rutgers University, and Darren McCluskey, '11, of Syracuse University, competed in the ECAC-IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Princeton University. Ed was, as usual, at the High Jump area where he finished 7th overall while clearing 2.04m (6' 8.3"). Steve and Darren were on the track. Steve competed in the 4 X 800m Relay where, in the Prelims, his team clocked 7:39.37 and finished 4th in their heat, 8th overall to qualify for the Finals. In the Finals, his team again finished 8th overall, clocking 7:37.88. Darren competed in the High Hurdles and, in the Prelims, took 3rd in his heat and 12th overall in 14.74. That was enough to advance to the Semi-finals but, clearly, he fell because he finished last in 22:23! Details at: Direct Athletics.

-- On June 6, 2014, Alum Joe Halin, '00, of the Running Company of Moorestown, competed in the Scott Coffee Moorestown Rotary 8K Race in Moorestown. Joe finished 5th overall in 27.23.8. Details at: Run Signup.
