Summer and Cross Country, 2025

-- For years, on July 4th, the current team and quite a few Alums raced the traditional "Marlton 5K Mayor's Cup," now called The Evesham Township Police Foundation's Marlton 4th of July 5K, and it tempted many old and new Cherokee runners to participate. Indeed, over the past 12 years or so, Cherokee's athletes won at least 11 of the races, taking 1st and 2nd in the bargain! Last year, Alum Mike Zurzolo '17, now coaching at Highland High School, finished 2nd, and many "sons of Cherokee" followed. No 1st place for The Chiefs that year! This year only three former "Chiefs" participated -- Mike Zurzolo '17, Marc Pelerin '02, and Chris Zurzolo -- and Alum Mike Zurzolo '17 crossed the line 1st! The near-by 5K in Haddon Heights pays more and several Alums go there but, this year, no Alums were there either! They missed it: the weather was great! Plan to run next year and restore the dynasty!

Hit the wrong button somewhere and my PhotoShop and Website App have rebelled. Many hours, no proper picture results. Insane stuff when, after all these years, you don't really know what you're doing! Or, you once did and that's all gone now! My understanding of "the bell curve!"

-- On July 28, 2025, several Alums stopped by the team practice at school. Actually, they may have been there frequently but our photographer just "stopped by!" Bobby Poulau '24 of Rutgers, and our 2025 graduates Tate Midore, Ben Weiner and Liam Tindall! Those guys showed what fleet-footed studs they'll look like when they're Alums and our photographer took the pics to prove it!

-- On August 29, 2025, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, competed in the Wellesley XC Invitational, a meet with 5 or 6 girls teams and only one mens team! Apparently, it was a 5K opportunity for the Brandeis coach to see his new runners and he threw them in! Ben was 2nd of 6 runners in 16:31. (5:19 pace mile) GO BEN! Details at: Harrier

-- On August 29, 2025, Alum Enzo Corona '25 of Monmouth University, began his college racing career at the 4-Mile Temple Owl Cross Country Invitational, a 6-team event in Ambler, PA. Enzo finished in 34th/59 overall in 21:46.10 (5:27 pace). GO ENZO! Details at: Lexicon.

-- On August 29, 2025, Alum Silas Matteson '24 of The College of New Jersey, opened his Sophomore campaign at home in the 5K 2025 TCNJ Blue & Gold Invitational. Silas finished 16th/57 overall in 16:48 (5:24.4 pace). GO SILAS! Details at: TFRRS.

-- On August 29, 2025, Alum Liam Tindall '25 of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, entered the 4-Mile Alumni and Intra-Squad Meet in his first "college" effort of the year. Broken into 3 Intra-Squad teams, with Liam racing "white," he finished 27th/77 overall, and 8th/10 Whites. His overall time was 21:19.8 (5:20 pace).The White Team took 2nd/3 Intra-Squad teams and the Alums were 4th overall! GO LIAM! Details at UW Athletics.

We're a little short of competition pics but this one is good. Liam sent this pic home to Mom and we're not sure what it means! Our take: "Having a great time but does anyone know how to work these things? What if I mail my dirty clothes home, you or Dad wash them and send them back? Thanks Mom!"

-- On September 5, 2025, Alums Nick Kuenkel '24 and Conor Jacob '23 of Monmouth University, competed in the Jersey Jam, a 5.8K race at Princeton University. Nick finished 17th/68 overall in 17.32.7; and Conor finished 45th/68 overall in 18:44.5. GO NICK! GO CONOR! Details at: Leone.

-- On September 12, 2025, Alums Nick Kuenkel '24 and Conor Jacob '23 of Monmouth University, competed in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State University. Nick finished the 5.2 mile race in 51st/108 overall, 26:23.3 (5:04.5 pace), and Conor finished in 104th/108 overall, 29:06.9 (5:36.9 pace). Details at: TFRRS.

-- On September 19, 2025, Alum Liam Deimler '25 of Haverford College, competed at home in the Main Line Invitational, a 4-Mile race held on campus. Liam had a tough day, finishing in 94th/114th overall in 23:11.6. (5.48 pace). Details at: Haverford Athletics.

-- On September 20, 2025, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, competed in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational where Ben raced the Varsity Gold, and received the following website comment: "First-year Ben Weiner (Marlton, N.J..Cherokee) had an outstanding performance in his first collegiate eight-kilometer race, covering the course in 26:24.96 (5:43 pace) to finish in 79th place, 15th among Division III runners." But that's not all: he got his first collegiate picture on their site! Get out! Was that Dennis?! Details at: Brandeis Judges.

-- On September 20, 2025, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, competed in the 52nd UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational, an 8K Navy (Sub-Varsity) race at Dartmouth University, and finished 32nd/170 overall, 1st on his JV team in 27:17.7 (5:30 pace)! -- On September 20, 2025, Alum Liam Tindall '25 of University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, competed in the St. Olaf College Invitational in Northfield, MN. Looks like Liam had a tough time in the 8K race as his team finished 1st/15 overall but he finished in 97th/195 overall in 28.06.5 (5:39 pace). Details at: TFRRS.

-- On September 27, 2025, Alum Silas Matteson '24 of The College of New Jersey, competed in the 37th Annual Don Cathcart Invitational in Salisbury, MD. An 8K race, Silas finished 36th/77 overall in 27.51.1 (5:36 pace). Details at: TFRRS.

-- On September 29, 2025, CCCTF has been looking for Alum Andrew Free since he graduated in June, 2024 and joined the XC team at West Chester University! In September 6, 2024, he raced the 6K in the WCU Season Opener, finishing in 28th/42 overall while clocking 21:54.2 (5:53 pace). While he remained on the roster for 2024 and is listed for 2025, no races are recorded. He did run Track and Field in 2025 and we'll review that when the Track season begins. -- On October 3, 2025, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, competed in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University where he ran the White 8K course in 26:36.9, finishing 212th/422 overall. His website editor wrote the following generous description: "First-year Ben Weiner (Marlton, N.J. / Cherokee) got off to a great start, standing in 155th after one mile, but fell back over each of the next milestones, finishing in 212th place with a time of 26:36.9." -- On October 3, 2025, Alum Liam Deimler '25 of Haverford College, competed in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University and clocked 28:47.7, finishing in 479th/596 overall in the Open 8K race. Details at: Leone Timing.

-- On October 3, 2025, Alums Nick Kuenkel '24, Conor Jacob '23 and Enzo Corona of Monmouth University, competed in the 8K Gold race or the 8K Open at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University> In the Gold, Nick finished 193rd/354 overall in 25:09.7 (5:05.7 pace), and Conor finished 328th/354 overall in 26:59.2 (5:25 pace). In the 8K Open Race, Enzo finished 387th/596 overall in 27:38.0 (5:34 pace). Details at: Leone Timing. While digging for info, I came across this mug shot! I'll have to look for others!

-- On October 3, 2025, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, competed in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University where he ran the White 8K course in 27:48.2 (5:36 pace), finishing in 334th/422 overall. Details at: Leone Timing.

-- On October 3, 2025, Alum Liam Tindall '25 of University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, competed in the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational in Colfax, Wis. Liam raced in the Open 8K where he finished 80th/108 Overall in 28:53.7 (5:49 pace), Details at: TFRRS

-- On October 11, 2025, Alum Silas Matteson '24 of The College of New Jersey, competed in the Highlander Cross Country Challenge at NJIT's course in Branch Brook Park, NJ. Silas raced the Invite 8K in 27:42.3 (5:34.4) and finished in 28th/152 overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On October 11, 2025, Alum Liam Tindall '25 of University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, welcomed his parents to the University's Parent's Weekend and displayed what happens when you live far north in Wisconsin: you become an Art Major!

-- On October 17, 2025, Alums Nick Kuenkel '24 and Conor Jacob '23 of Monmouth University, competed in the Princeton Fall Classic at Princeton University. Nick and Conor raced the 8K, and Nick clocked a 25:04 (5:02.6 pace), finishing 185th/336 overall, while Conor clocked 28:04.2 (5:38.8 pace) and finished 318th/336 Overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On October 18, 2025, Alum Liam Deimler '25 of Haverford College, competed in the Interregional Border Battle AKA, The Rowan Border Battle at his former "home course," DREAM Park, Glassboro, NJ! Liam entered the Open 8K race and finished 65th/215 overall in 28.48 (5:48 pace), Details at: TFRRS.

-- On October 18, 2025, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, competed in the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, CT. Ben raced 26:18.8 (5:18 pace) in the Blue Race, finishing 157th/269 overall. Details at: Camel Athletics.

-- On October 18, 2025, Alum Liam Tindall '25 of University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, competed in the 8K at the Interregional Invitational on Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, IL. In the 8K Blue race, Liam clocked 29:59.2 (6:02 pace) and finished 295th/439 overall. TFRRS

-- On October 20, 2025, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, traveled to the 52nd UMass Dartmouth XC Invitational on Dartmouth's campus where he raced the Navy 8K in 27:17.8 (5:29 pace) and finished 32nd/170 overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On October 24, 2025, Alum Liam Tindall '25 of University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, competed in the 69th Annual Dual Meet with Luther College of Decorah, Iowa! Liam finished 16th/32 overall in 16.24.6 (5:17 pace) and his team won the meet with a score of 21- 34. Details at: Luther Norse.

-- On October 31, 2025, Alums Nick Kuenkel '24 and Conor Jacob '23 of Monmouth University, hosted the CAA Cross Country Championships at Ocean County Park. Nick raced the 8K in 24:41.5 (4:58 pace) and finished 24th/104 overall, while Conor raced in 26:06.5 (5:15.1 pace) and finished 70th/104 overall. Details at: TFRRS. Pictures found more than a month after the race. Low resolution, many of them noisy . . . but free!

-- On November 1, 2025, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, competed in the UAA Cross Country Championships at Washington University in ST. Louis, MO. Ben finished the 8K race in 26:41.8 (5:34 pace) , 59th/78 overall. His team website said it all: "First-year Ben Weiner (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) continued his fine campaign, finishing among the teams top two for the fourth meet in a row . . . !" Details at: BRRM.

-- On November 1, 2025, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, traveled to the Gordon College in Wenham, MA for the CNE Cross Country Championships. Tate competed in the 8K, clocking 27:27.3 (5:31 pace) and finishing 28th/115 overall. His team finished 1st of 10 teams you never heard of (sorry Tate but you're not Liam Tindall out in the boonies) and he finished 9th on his team's 19 entrents. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On November 1, 2025, Alum Silas Matteson '24 of The College of New Jersey, competed in the NJIC Cross Country Championshjip at Stockton University in Galloway. Silas raced the 8K in 27:20.4 (5:30 pace) and finished 29th/84 overall. His team finished 1st of 7 teams. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On November 15, 2025, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, competed in the NCAA Division III East Region Cross Country Championships at Hopkinton, NH. Ben raced the 8K course in 26:57 (5:25 pace) and finished 76th/220 overall. He got some love on the team's website but see if you notice their mistake. "First-year Ben Weiner (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) marked his first NCAA Regionals race with his time of 26:57 earning 76th place. He remained in the team's top three for all five 6k races of his first collegiate season." Details at: TFRRS

Ah, life in the world of computer technology! After years of using computers and websites, and still learning next to nothing about computers, the computer rebeled against our website manager! That, or he messed up! Anyway, programs disappeared, files disappeared, pictures disappeared . . .. Sadness in Mudville! After weeks of effort, resorting to friends, Geeks Squads, etc., and, sadly, no one asking "what's with the site?", our website manager overcame depression and managed to get most of the site and associated programs working again! Yaaaaaa! But the Winter is gone -- we'll do some research but tell us if you did something fantastic, will you?! -- and Spring, 2026 begins!

Spring Track, 2026

Our website manager skimmed through the winter records of our Alums and he is looking forward to the outdoor programs! That said, looking at the Roger Williams' site, he was struck by a nice picture of Tate Midora '25, a picture attached to his Bio file! Weakened by internet transfer.

-- On March 21st, 2026, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, opened his Spring Season at the Wesleyan Swanson Invite in Middletown, CT. A little rusty, Tate raced the 400m in 53.09, finishing 16th/43 and the 3K in 10:18.47, finishing 24th/30 overall, Details at: TFRRS.

-- On March 26th, 2026, Alum Robert "Bobby" Poplau '24 of Rutgers University, traveled to NC State for the challenging Raleigh Relays. Bobby finished 89th/198 overall in the 800m, while clocking 1:53.28! Details at: TFRRS.

-- On March 27th, 2026, Alum Liam Deimler '25 of Haverford College, traveled to nearby Widener University and opened his season at the Danny Curren Invitational, There he ran the 5k in 16:04.17, finishing 81st/135 overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On March 27th, 2026, Alums Nick Kuenkel '24 and Conor Jacob of Monmouth University, stayed at home for the 30th Annual Monmouth Season Opener. Nick raced the 1500m in 4:03:63, finishing 7th/54 overall; and Conor raced the 800m in 1:59.60, finishing 37th/47 overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On March 21st, 2026, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, traveled to UMass, Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, MA for the Corsair Classic Track & Field Invitational. There, Tate raced the 800m in 2:01.88 and finished 2nd/15 Overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On April 3rd, 2026, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, competed in the Ocean State Cup in SMithfield, RI, where he raced the 1500m in 4:24.91 and finished 19th/28 overall. Details at: TFRRS

-- On April 10th, 2026, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, traveled to Connecticut College, in New London, CT for the Silfen Invitational. There he raced the 800m in 2:04.05 and finished 3rd/27 overall, and then participated in the 4 X 400m Relay that finished 3rd/7 overall in 3:32.75. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On April 10th, 2026, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, traveled to Tufts University in Medford, MA for the Tufts Spring Stampede. There he raced the 5K, finishing in 41st/57 overall in 16:09.45. Details at: tfrrs.

-- On April 11th, 2026, Alum Conor Jacob '23 of Monmouth University, traveled to the nearby New Brunswick for the Rutgers Relays. Conor raced the Open 800 in 1:28.24 and finished 16th/47 overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On April 16th, 2026, Alum Robert "Bobby" Poplau '24 of Rutgers University, traveled to Winston-Salem, NC for the Wake Forest Invitational competed in the Sam Howell Invitational. Bobby raced the 800m in 1:52.52 and finished 6th overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On April 17th, 2026, Alum Liam Deimler '25 of Haverford College, again returned to Widener University in West Chester for the Paul Donahue Invitational @ Widener University . There he ran the 5K in 16:17.91 and finished 99th/139 overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On April 17th, 2026, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, traveled to MIT's Steinbrenner Track in Cambridge, MA for the Sean Collier Invitational. There he raced the 1500m in 4:20.78 and finished 25th/54 overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On April 18th, 2026, Alums Nick Kuenkel '24 and Conor Jacob of Monmouth University, stayed close to home at Rutger University for the 2026 IC4A-ECAC Outdoor T & F Championships. Nick raced the 5K in 15:00.87 and finished 12th/35 overall. Conor raced the 800m in 1:59.60 and finished 37th/47 overall. Details at: TFRRS.

-- On April 18th, 2026, Alum Greg Malloy '11, now a lawyer in San Diego, completed the Boston Marathon in 2:34.34! His coach, Steve Shaklee, reported that his time was "Pretty darn good for a guy who just got back to running last year and who works full time as a lawyer"! Details at: Greg.

-- On April 18th, 2026, Alum Mike Iannotta '18, now an engineer living in Marlton, completed the Jersey City Marathon in a disappointing 2:42. His coach, Steve Shaklee, reported that, "He had stomach issues and was vomiting for a while around mile 18 . . . Ended up running 4:42. He is much better than that." Shaklee, who had his own issues with the marathon when runners were far-less educated on how to approach the race, knows of what he speaks! Details at: Mike I.

-- On April 21st, 2026, Alum Liam Deimler '25 of Haverford College, competed in the Haverford Mid-Week Meet at Haverford and raced the 1500m in 4:20.55 and finished 12th/23 overall! Details at: tfrrs

-- On April 24th, 2026, Alum Nick Kuenkel '24 of Monmouth University, traveled to TCNJ for the Rick McCorkle Invitational where he raced the 1500m in 4:01.51 and finished 12th/21 overall. Details at: tfrrs.

-- On April 24th, 2026, Alum Enzo Carona '24 of Monmouth University, traveled to TCNJ for the Rick McCorkle Invitational and ran "unattached in the 1500m. He finished 14th/53 overall while clocking 4:11.60. Details at: tfrrs.

-- On April 24th, 2026, Alum Robert "Bobby" Poplau '24 of Rutgers University, traveled to Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania for the Penn Relays! Bobby and his teammates, Kyle Rakitis, Patrick Coyle and Gabriel Rodriguez raced the College Division 4 X 800m Relay in 7:33.37 and finished 5th/16 overall. Details at: tfrrs.

-- On April 25th, 2026, Alum Tate Midora '25 of Roger Williams University, competed in the Conference of New England Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Gordon College in Wenham, MA. Tate raced the 800m in 2:03.87 and finished 13th/28 overall. His team took 3rd/8th overall in the Conference. Details at: tfrrs.

-- On April 25th, 2006, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, traveled to Case Western University in Cleveland, OH for the 2026 UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Ben got stuck (does the coach hate him?) in the 10K where he finished 9th/9 overall in 32:42.00 (this qualified him for the upcoming DIV III New England Championships). Details at: tfrrs.

-- On May 1st, 2006, Alum Ben Weiner '25 of Brandeis University, traveled to Springfield College in Springfield, MA for the DIII New England Championship. Ben raced the 10K again in 33:19.03 and finished 13th/23 overall. Details at: tfrrs.

-- On May 1st, 2026, Alum Nick Kuenkel '24 and of Monmouth University, traveled to near-by Princeton University for the Larry Ellis Invitational where he raced the 5K in 15:08.42 and finished 19th/25 overall. Details at: tfrrs.

-- On May 1st and 2nd, 2026, Alum Robert "Bobby" Poplau '24 of Rutgers University, went to Princeton University for the Larry Ellis Invitational. There he raced the 800m in 1:51.99 and finished 30th/48 overall, and Saturday's 1500m in 3:53.79 and finished 11th/36 overall. Details at: tfrrs.
