Lenape and Washington Township Double-Dual: On September 29th, the team took another big step towards winning the Division when it defeated both Lenape and Washington Township High Schools in competition at Gloucester County College. Running as a pack, the varsity squad took six of the top eight places from each school.
Great American Cross Country Festival: On the weekend of October 2nd,
the team traveled to Cary, North Carolina to compete in their first "national"
meet of the season, the Great American CC Festival. After practicing on the
course Friday, the Varsity squad arrived early on Saturday for one of the
first races of the day, the Varsity 5K Seeded Invitational. With 140 runners
representing 19 teams in the race, the Cherokee squad, missing two of its top
runners, still took first place . . . Tom Yersak (6th), Greg Bredeck (9th), Matt
Dolan (17th), Vin Marziano (30th), Paul McFadden (36th), Sean Mclaughlin (49th)
and Will Andes (59th)! In the afternoon, two JV squads competed. In the first,
Freshman Alex Yersak won the race, leading the team to a 4th place finish; and
in the second race, Freshman Kyle Adams took 17th and lead his team to a

Cherry Hill East and Shawnee Double-Dual: On October 5th, Cherokee completed its sweep of the American Division of the Olympic Conference by defeating the teams from Cherry Hill East and Shawnee High Schools at Gloucester County College.
Burlington County Frosh-Soph Meet: On October 7th, Cherokee's Freshmen and Sophomores competed in the annual County Frosh-Soph Meet at Mill Creek Park in Willingboro. In the Freshman race, with 44 finishers, Kevin "Ted" Schickling took 1st, and he was closely followed by Kyle Adams (5th), Brenden Burke (6th), Steve McCarroll (11th), Alex Mitchell (13th), Darius Reid (14th), Tyler McAdam (18th) and Liam Eells (19th). In the Sophomore race, only two Cherokee runners competed but they did well: Colin Cunningham took 2nd place, and Mike Medvec finished in 4th!
SJ Open: On October 9th, the Cherokee Freshmen and JV teams participated in the SJ Open in Delsea, NJ. The Freshmen race included almost 100 runners, and the top finishers among the Cherokee Freshmen were Alex Yersak, taking 1st place, Kevin Schickling (9th), Brenden Burke (15th), Kyle Adams (17th), and Steve McCarroll (21st). Highlights in the JV race included Colin Cunningham's 3rd place finish in 17:56, followed by Matt Applegate in 20th and Mike Brown in 32nd.
