Bridgeton Relays

Saturday, April 13th, was a mixed day: some good weather, some bad; some good performances, some not so good. Keith Krieger was at the Arcadia Invitational in California, where he ran 9:22.54 in the seeded heat of the 3200m. This time placed him in 2nd place on the All-Time Cherokee High School records list (behind Marc Pelerin's 9:01.89), and in 7th place on the All-Time Burlington County list. At Bridgeton, Freshmen Andes, Pignon, Nelson and Bredeck broke the school's Freshman record in the Distance Medley with a time of 11:17. (Click on pictures for larger versions.)

Lenape Dual Meet

The dual meet against Lenape High School on Tuesday, April 15th, was a good one for Cherokee athletes. The distance squad swept the distance races, and the jumpers and weight men split enough points with Lenape to secure the win. Only a few pictures, however, because the photographer was busy acting as a meet official. Dual meet record: 2-0, with Eastern to be decided.

Woodbury Relays

This two-day relay meet, on Thursday, April 17th and Saturday, April 19th, was an exciting outing for Cherokee's runners, with the team taking third place in the Group IV competition. On Thursday, the DM team of Yersak, Lake, Andes, and Krieger took second in 10:50; and on Saturday, Cherokee runners took fourth in several races, while the team of Klawiter, Lake, Wintermute and Whirledge took second in the 4 X 400.

Frosh-Soph Meet

The Frosh-Soph Meet, at Highland Regional High School on April 21st, was a unique opportunity for Cherokee athletes to compete against individuals in their age group. Many runners and throwers set PR's at this meet, and several distance runners (Bredeck in the 800, Maneval in the 3200, and Yersak in the 1600) established meet records. In addition, an errant discus caught Freshman Glen Pease in the back of the head and forced him to visit the hospital for stitches!
